Are you tired of hooking up that boat trailer every weekend and waiting in line at a public launch to back your boat into a NW Wisconsin lake? What percentage of your actual fishing time is consumed by this neck-twisting maneuver? If you are like me, you might have to drive back and forth a little to back the boat in straight. Meanwhile, other boaters are impatiently waiting to get on or off the lake. Backing your trailer into the lake just gets harder at night. Douglas County lake home owners don’t have those kinds of problems.
Why would you purchase lakeshore in Douglas County? Why buy Northwestern Wisconsin lake home? Do you have an hour or so to hear about it? I think you would rather be fishing than listening to me talk about it. You don’t want a long-winded pitch from a NW Wisconsin REALTOR; you would rather be fishing. I know I would.
Let’s get straight to the point. Superior- Douglas County lake homes boast some of the finest lake shore. NW Wisconsin lakeshore is sandy. In fact there are plenty of people from other states including Minnesota who buy lake shore here for exactly that reason. Also, water levels tend to be consistent, and the water quality is good here. If you are wondering why you see so many Minnesota license plates crossing the border on weekends, now you know why.
Then of course, there’s the fish. Call me to find out about the availability of Douglas County Wi lake homes on one of the Tri-Lakes. Dowling Lake is only about 153 acres and a mean depth of seven feet, but it certainly hasn’t stunted the fish growth. There are walleye, smallmouth, and plenty of bluegills for the grandkids to catch. Be certain you have a heavy-duty net. Nearby Amnicon Lake is about 426 acres and there are some mighty big muskies lurking in there. There is more room for water skiing but the fishing is good here too. Lyman Lake is a good 403 acres, and is exceptionally beautiful.
There are hundreds of lakes and streams in Douglas County, and a good inventory of NW Wisconsin lake homes. However, I just can’t help but mention two more: Lake Minnesuing (413 acres) and Nebagamon (950 acres.) These two lakes are part of the unusual waterways that flow north to Lake Superior.
Superior- Douglas County lake homes are accessible and affordable. You can commute to Duluth- Twin Ports from just about any of them in 30 minutes or less. If you want lakeshore that is close to the big city, you don’t have to limit yourself to the Duluth real estate market. Prices and parcels vary, but it’s safe to say that you could find a year round NW Wisconsin lake property for about 300k, more or less. Seasonal ones are even more affordable, with many coming in under 200K.
